Animal overview

Deer are a type of mammal known as an ungulate and one unique characteristic of the deer family is their antlers. The coat color generally varies between red and brown. Deer feed primarily on foliage of grass, sedges, forbs, shrubs and trees, secondarily on lichens in northern latitudes during winter. They live in a variety of biomes, ranging from tundra to tropical rainforests.
